Race of Stars – Xtreme Karting – Gold Coast – 14/10/2016

River City Titles – Go Kart Club of SA – 23/10/2016

It’s been a busy few weeks, so I’m wrapping up 2 updates into one.  A lot to get through, so let’s get straight into it….

Firstly, we can talk about the Race of Stars.  This was a fantastic event held on a hire kart track on the Gold Coast.  With 36 kids from all over the country racing, it was a great field as well.

Let's play a game of "Where's Jimmy?"
Let’s play a game of “Where’s Jimmy?”

Jim qualified in 13th, and finished the first couple of heats in 13th and 16th respectively.

Yey! – At the front. Unfortunately they were going out single file, meaning we were actually in 11th…

Heat 3 was notable for a couple of red flag incidents, and also for Jim finishing in 8th position.  This was a great result, and representative of the improvement he has shown throughout the year.  This turns out to be unfortunate for Jim, as this is the sort of result that will be expected from now on.

Jimmy's Team mate Adrian - He did OK at the Race of Stars
Jim and his team mate Adrian.  Both did OK, with Jim cracking the top 10 in a heat, and Adrian winning the event or something…

Jim couldn’t keep up the pace though, and dropped back to finish 15th in heat 4, and 17th in the final.

From the Race of Stars, we drove home and then moved on to the River City Titles, held at the Monarto track in SA.

Jim Qualified in 2nd, and finished 2nd in both heats 1 and 2.

The 3rd heat had one of the closest finishes in quite a while with Jim finishing in 3rd, 0.152 seconds behind the winner.  Unfortunately, Jim just didn’t have the pace of the other karts in the final, and ended up in 3rd.

It’s been a fun couple of weeks, and we know what we have to work on for the next few races.

Jim would like to thank IocaneWIFA Racing, EvoKart Australia, and his mum and sister for all their support.  Thanks also to all the officials and volunteers, without whom Jim couldn’t race.

Now, on to the important stuff.  I have had a number of people express their disappointment in my lack of injuries from Christine recently.  There are a number of people who have suggested the reason I’m not performing my world famous mechanicking is down to fear of the kart, rather than any supposed ban from the race team.

I’m not sure how to classify this one though.  The kart managed to cut Jim’s thumb (broken lens on the camera), so I’m getting concerned Christine has awakened and will be coming for me soon…

I can’t award any points though, because I still managed to avoid injury.

Current score:

JP -> 3 (Survived 2 weeks without hurting himself, use of Angle Grinder Persuasion, Ancient Spirit Mumbo Jumbo)

Christine -> 4 (Burn by exhaust, Degreasing of the eye, Magical Goggle Piercing Metal bit, Special Combo).
