Crunch Time in the Festival State Cup!
We are now getting down to the business end of the Festival State Cup Series. This is a 5 round series, open to everyone, and run on different tracks throughout the year.
Jim has been doing really well in this series, and was leading the series coming in to round 4. Based on his series points, Jim needed to finish 2nd or better at the last 2 rounds to guarantee a series win.

Qualifying was challenging, with traffic making it difficult to get a good run in. Jim managed to get only one clear lap in during the session, but the time was almost good enough for pole – He missed out by 1/1000th of a second.

Heat 1 was a fierce battle between Jimmy and Christian, with the gap between the boys under 3/10ths of a second for most of the race, only changing on the last lap as they encountered lapped traffic.

Heat 2 was yet again another battle. Jimmy managed to get in front briefly, but contact was made on the next corner and Jim was pushed back to second. The gap between the karts was never great than a quarter of second for the entire race.
The final heat followed the same pattern, with the karts basically nose to tail for the entire race. Jim finished second for the day, picking up more valuable points for the series.

Jimmy would like to congratulate his team mates. Aaron Oliver had a heat win in the strongly contested Cadet 12 class, and came away with second place for the day. Kelvin Kirk drove well to finish 3rd on the Cadet 9 class.
Thanks also go out to Jim’s sponsor Iocane, and to Steve and Aaron Oliver for all their help. Jimmy would also like to thank all the competitors for some great racing, and all the officials and volunteers.
