Road trip time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practice on Saturday was an adventure, with the rain making it hard work for the kids on the track, and even harder work for everyone off the track as they slogged through the mud to get the karts on the grid.  It was worth it though, with lots of experienced gained in the wet, as well as having a huge number of karts on the track at once for the practice sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wet conditions continued on Sunday morning, and qualifying was conducted on a wet track.  Jim did well, qualifying in 4th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first heat was exciting, with 6 kids in the lead group on on a similar pace.  There was some really exciting racing, and Jim managed to finish 5th.  There was less than a second separating 1st from 5th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heat 2 was just as exciting as the first.  Jim dropped backed to 5th after the start, but worked his way past a couple of competitors to finish in 3rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final was a great race, with 4 karts battling it out in the lead group.  Jim finished 4th, with Christian Cowie holding out to take the win. The top 4 karts were separated by less than 4 tenths of a second after 7 and a half minutes of high quality racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all, it was a great weekend, and Jim is already looking forward to the next round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
