{"id":473,"date":"2017-02-15T17:07:58","date_gmt":"2017-02-15T07:37:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jimmy.piszcyk.com\/?p=473"},"modified":"2022-07-17T19:14:17","modified_gmt":"2022-07-17T09:44:17","slug":"2017-australian-kart-championship-round-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jimmy.piszcyk.com\/?p=473","title":{"rendered":"2017 &#8211; Australian Kart Championship &#8211; Round 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Newcastle Kart Racing&nbsp;Club &#8211; 10\/2\/2017 to&nbsp;12\/2\/2017<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Round 1 of the Australian Kart Championship, and we were on the road to Newcastle. &nbsp;We arrived on Thursday, and let me tell you, it was hot. &nbsp;This would become the theme for the weekend. &nbsp;We set up the pits, and then retired for a quiet night of panic based preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday was practice, and I somehow managed to find a way to make the kart slower and slower with every session. &nbsp;It was hot though, like really hot. &nbsp;Like 45 degrees type hot. &nbsp;So there was that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter wp-image-476 size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"2229\" height=\"1254\" src=\"http:\/\/jimmy.piszcyk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/0W0A6643-32.jpg\" alt=\"The boys relaxing in the WIFA Racing\/EvoKart Australia Hospitality tent... The kid behind him looks like he may have been a bit hot&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In Heat 1 Jim got a decent started and finished in 15th. &nbsp;In Heat 2 Jim finished in 21st. &nbsp;We did find some consistency though. &nbsp;It was the weather. &nbsp;It was hot, around 50 degrees hot, so&nbsp;heat 3 was postponed to Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter wp-image-478 size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1474\" height=\"829\" src=\"http:\/\/jimmy.piszcyk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/0W0A2678-16.jpg\" alt=\"Some airtime over the ski jump. The tyres didn&#8217;t want to touch the track as it was too hot.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday, Jim had a few problems, and finished in 29th in Heat 3. &nbsp;We spent the break trying to fix an engine problem, and didn&#8217;t realise Jim&#8217;s steering was bent until we were on the grid for Heat 4. &nbsp;This slowed Jim down a bit and he finished in 26th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jim started the final from 21st, and was involved in a few battles throughout the race. &nbsp;He eventually finished in 20th, but managed to show glimpses that he wasn&#8217;t far off the pace of the top 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter wp-image-477 size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1370\" height=\"771\" src=\"http:\/\/jimmy.piszcyk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/0W0A5673-43.jpg\" alt=\"Jim fights with his team mate.
