The Southern Go Kart Club hosted a wonderful event on Sunday the 18th of October.  The skies were blue, weather was magnificent (OK, it was starting to get hot), and the club donated $10 from each entry fee to the Cancer Council of SA.

There was no qualifying in this event, just a random draw for the grid in the first two heats, a pre final with grid decided on accumulated points, and a final with starting positions determined by finishing position in the pre-final.

Jim’s first 2 heats went really well.  Starting from 4th and 2nd respectively in the heats, Jim drove really well to take out both heats.

Jim then started in pole for the pre-final.  He managed to stay in front and win the pre-final, giving him pole for the final.  Jim drove consistently in the final and came away with the win.

The clean sweep of all heats gave Jim the win for the day, and he also managed to break the lap record in heat 2.  All in all a pretty good day.

Well done to Jimmy’s team mate Kelvin, who finished 3rd in the event after suffering a broken clutch and fuel line problems throughout the day.  He did well to keep going and salvage a result.

A big shout out to Jimmy’s other CRG team mate Aaron, who couldn’t race due to an accident earlier in the week while practicing on his BMX.  Hopefully he is all better, and ready to race again.

Jim would like to thank Iocane for their support, his mum for all her support (and of course the snacks), his CRG team mates for all their assistance, and all the officials and volunteers who stood out in the hot sun all day.
